PRINT TRAK
Inline labelling package
CARTON LABELLING
BY THE PACKER AT EACH DROP
This
in-line labeling package is designed and implemented by Positive
Software Ltd. It allows carton end labels to be printed by the packer
at each
drop and applied to the carton when it is filled.
CORDLESS RF
SCANNING
100% GROWER CARTON ACCURACY
Once
a pallet is filled, a cordless RF scanner is used to scan each carton
label on the pallet and send the carton details to CropPak; the pallet
card is automatically generated based on the information received from
the scanner. Grower carton accuracy is 100% because the cartons on each
pallet are tallied using the scanner.
Using this application
the previously high activity documentation area becomes clear and staff
can perform other duties saving sheds significant costs on staff levels.
Hardware in installed on-site in conjunction with us.
Updates
from our QC desk software when run lot, market access or pest value
changes occur eliminate the disruption caused by the necessity to
re-label cartons.
Because each label format is
programmatically prepared within our software we avoid the need and for
third party label printing software commonly used by other providers
e.g. BarTender.
Use of the RF scanning hardware in the shed
enables it to be used for other purposes e.g. our Loads Application
enables loads to be prepared and printed remotely from the pallet
marshalling area.
Freshco Nelson found the use of
this product significantly streamlined their operation by eliminating
the pallet documentation area bottleneck.
This in turn resulted in
savings in labour costs as the previously high activity documentation
area became clear and staff could perform other duties. At the end of
each shift there was no pallet catch-up required, grower carton
accuracy was 100%, and automatic update from the QC desk eliminated the
necessity to re-label cartons if there were changes in market access.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
This
system employs a computer at the grader which is interfaced to the
press button and label printer locations beside the drops for ease of
use by packing staff.
The CropPak grader software
controlling the label print functionality is designed to give the
grader operator the flexibility to allocate exporter, size, pack-type,
material, customer suitability, and in the case of Enza the grower
contract, against each grader drop.
Each set or pattern of drop configurations can be saved as a template for re-use when required.
The software allows the operator to quickly and easily set or edit a
packing configuration from one form in the software.
Any
packer who has prepared a carton prints a label with product line code,
variety & mark, count, barcode, run, production site, pack date
code and any other exporter specific requirements (commonly class,
grade or exporter address).
Once labeled the carton is moved to the
pallet.
A separate QC software at the QC desk updates lot
and other run values during packing; the software prevents the need to
re-label cartons when these change, and therefore eliminate the labour
needed to re-labeling cartons after they have been
palletized.
Because
we use the highest speed database access and update techniques and also
the latest printing technologies packers can expect a label to print
within.5 seconds of a button press even when the network is heavily
loaded by other users.
At the pallet area an RF (wireless)
scanner is used.
The operator affixes the pallet card and can then commence scanning the
next pallet.
100% accurate tally of grower product is
guaranteed. ‘Troublesome’ part pallets can be dealt with many times
more quickly than previously.
Because each label
format is programmatically prepared within our software we avoid the
need for third party label printing software commonly used by other
providers e.g. BarTender.

PRINT TRAK SOFTWARE FOR
KIWIFRUIT PACKING
Our PrintTrak software product was enhanced and re-designed for use at
a large Motueka kiwifruit packer.
We
were able to observe quantifiable improvements in their operation
brought about by the PrintTrak software, where new throughput records
were set regularly.
The software proved itself to be robust, accurate and effective, and
downtime caused by the software did not occur.
